To whom it may concern,
While my absence certainly doesn’t prove it, I have missed writing to you. My initial pause was modified from weeks to months as I worked on building my Hip Hop media platform. It took longer to hit the restart button here because writing was harder to accomplish, and I wasn’t enjoying the process.
When I started this blog, I always imagined writings from other diasporans. I consume a lot of media, but surely not enough to cover popular culture from all of the African diaspora. Something I learned recently since forcing myself into the world more is popular culture, and how its definition and perimeters look very different depending on who you are talking to. Running this platform solo, I found myself stressed by the original constraints of its ethos. I was not publishing enough, and wanting to write more identity/journal pieces that solely centered on my life.
It’s time for this blog to spread its wings and start a new transition. Rice and stew please 2.0 launches July 12, 2024, with the usual appearances from me, but with newer voices from the diaspora. Until opening, you might notice some changes with branding and layout, but all will be ironed out by July 12.
